Clarity Partners is seeking an Assistant Accountant on behalf of a mining services business supporting the mining, water and infrastructure sectors. With operations across Australia, the business offers exposure to an international finance team and a diverse range of financial and commercial activities.

About the Role

This role supports the financial operations of the business, offering flexibility in how the position is structured. It is open to a full-time Junior Assistant Accountant looking to develop their skills, or a part-time Experienced Assistant Accountant seeking a more flexible working arrangement.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider regional team, you will assist with core accounting activities while gaining exposure to more complex financial processes as your experience develops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Month-End Reporting: Assist with monthly accounts, journals, reconciliations and financial reporting within group deadlines.
  • Financial Analysis: Support cash flow tracking, variance analysis and revenue reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with preparing and maintaining budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Tax and Compliance: Support GST, BAS, FBT and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Treasury and Transactions: Assist with foreign currency transactions, intercompany payments and cash management.
  • Financial Controls: Maintain accurate financial records, support process improvements and follow internal procedures.
  • Audit and Lease Accounting: Assist with year-end processes, lease accounting and related reporting (IFRS 16).
  • General Support: Provide accounting and commercial support to the finance team and operational stakeholders.

About You

You will have a sound foundation in accounting, strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn, develop and take on new responsibilities.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Approximately 2–4 years’ experience in an accounting or assistant accountant role.
  • Exposure to month-end processes, reconciliations, journals and financial reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across the business.

Experience with GST/BAS, cash flow reporting, foreign currency transactions, intercompany accounting or budgeting would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why This Role

  • Full-time for a junior candidate or part-time for an experienced Assistant Accountant.
  • Support finance operations across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Build your skills across a broad range of accounting functions.
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager and regional team.
  • Great flexibility in working options.
  • Opportunities to progress throughout the business.
  • Great collaborative team culture.

Please note: Applicants must have full working rights in Australia.
