I'm working with a resources client in the Perth CBD on a Procurement Officer role. Mandarin is a requirement for this one, not a nice-to-have, as the role involves regular engagement with overseas stakeholders and suppliers.

The Role

Reporting to a Procurement Lead in a procurement team of around 15 people. You'd be allocated a purchase group based on your strengths.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing day to day purchasing of goods and services for the operation
  • Providing a responsive purchasing service to internal stakeholders across both operational and project requirements, keeping them updated from order through to delivery
  • Using SAP to engage and commit suppliers, balancing price, quality and delivery to get the best result
  • Creating and maintaining purchase orders in SAP, keeping data accurate so reporting stays clean and the procure to pay process holds up
  • Building working relationships with suppliers so daily and planned requirements keep arriving on time and to spec
  • Staying ahead of delivery schedules, expediting orders and sorting out discrepancies before they hit stakeholder timelines
  • Sourcing quotes, challenging price, lead time and terms where there's a commercial case to
  • Championing the company's commercial and procure to pay processes and helping stakeholders get things right first time
  • Engaging with overseas stakeholders and suppliers in Mandarin as part of the day to day
  • Over time, moving into sourcing work. Market sourcing, offshore supplier engagement, governance and compliance checks, and recommendations back to stakeholders

What You'll Need

  • Fluent Mandarin, spoken and written, at a business level is a MUST
  • Strong current SAP, transactional purchasing and procure to pay
  • High volume purchasing and materials management experience
  • Mining or resources background preferred, adjacent industries considered

The conditions, upfront

  • Perth CBD, office based
  • No work from home
  • 8.30 to 5, Monday to Friday, with around half an hour of flexibility either end
  • Available as permanent or contract, duration negotiable

What's On Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Life and salary continuance insurance
  • Salary packaging and salary sacrifice options
  • Leave benefits, and personal and family benefits
  • Education and training support
  • Lifestyle benefits through preferred suppliers
  • Contribution to gym membership
  • Social club events

The part that makes this role very attractive is the progression. The hiring manager was clear he wants to move the right person into sourcing over time. Market sourcing, offshore supplier engagement, governance and compliance, stakeholder recommendations. It's not a role that keeps you transactional forever.

If this sounds like you apply below.
